Manor Fields Primary School

Art

We strive to ‘Inspire Life Long Learning’ through all areas of the curriculum and believe the arts to be an essential part of a broad and balanced education which meets the needs of all. We understand how the arts have the power to inspire, challenge and develop the confidence of pupils of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. Involvement in the arts helps our pupils develop skills such as co-operation, resilience, aspiration, tenacity and raise their self-esteem. We strive to harness the positive elements of the arts to improve children’s personal development and well-being.

On this curriculum page you will find the National Curriculum for Art and Design for Key Stage 1 and 2, some great suggestions for places to explore with your family, as well as details of art competitions which you can take part in, and some examples of recent artwork which has been in and around our school and more.

"The New Art Centre is a sculpture park and gallery set in over sixty acres of parkland in the Wiltshire countryside. We specialise in 20th and 21st-century works of art that are on view both in the park and in our prize-winning contemporary indoor spaces. We have long standing relationships with the artists that we show, many of which stretch back over the past six decades. All works are for sale.

We founded Roche Court Educational Trust in 2005 as a registered charity based in the park. The trust works with teachers, children, young people, adults and specialist groups, encouraging them to look, think and speak about art."
