Panathlon Challenge 27.02.2023

On Monday 27th February Mr Cooke and Mrs Leeman accompanied 10 children to Sarum Academy to take part in a Panathlon Challenge.

Kurling Tournament

On Wednesday 18th January, we could not have been more proud of James, Aiden and Luke who represented Manor Felds at a city-wide Kurling tournament. The boys were great competitors who were unbeaten in 4 of their 6 matches. As importantly, they were kind, respectful participants and fantastically, James  was voted the child who showed the highest level of self-belief. We must thank Mr. Cooke for organising yet another opportunity in which Manor Fields children were able to shine. Well done all!

PE Curriculum

Curriculum Intent

At Manor Fields, we aim to provide a PE curriculum that all children from Robins up to Kestrels and our Kingfishers not only enjoy but also one that helps them to develop their health, fitness & physical/mental wellbeing. We offer a high-quality PE curriculum that inspires all children to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other sporting activities.

We strive to provide accessible opportunities for our children to become confident, both physically and mentally, in a supportive sporting environment. Opportunities to compete in sport give our Manor Fields children the chance to represent the school’s core values and beliefs.  This is true of the mainstream and the Complex Needs Resource Base.

We offer a sporting after school club every day for children to extend their learning & enjoyment of PE further.

Our five aims and to ensure that children:

  • Develop competence to excel in a variety of physical activities
  • Are physically active for sustained periods of time
  • Engage in competitive sports and activities
  • Live healthy, active lives both inside and outside of school
  • Enjoy PE is as the result of careful, specific class planning

Curriculum Implementation

Children participate in high-quality PE lessons twice a week. Every class receives at least one PE lesson from Mr Cooke, our Sports Lead. Lessons are progressive and they encourage all children to challenge themselves in order to keep improving, whatever level of ability. There is a range of sports offered at lunch times so children are encouraged to continue practising what they have learned in PE with their peers.

Curriculum Impact

We use a number of ways to assess within PE to gain the best understanding about where children are within each sporting unit. These include:

  • Regular subject monitoring from the subject leader (Mr Cooke)
  • Performance & engagement at sports days and tournaments representing the school
  • Every child is individually assessed at the end of each term within the sporting unit
  • Mr Cooke (Sports Lead) participates in numerous sports teaching opportunities throughout the year in order to improve knowledge, skills & the delivery of PE within the school
